Larissa Hodge, Veterinary Nurse, Scotland
I recently had the privilege of travelling to Tanzania to participate in a sterilisation campaign working alongside Mbwa Wa Africa, a wonderful dog rescue shelter and the sister charity, Four Steps to Freedom. I saw at first-hand the wonderful impact Four Steps to Freedom have had. The financial support they give to Mbwa Wa Africa has allowed for the necessary infrastructure and the new Animal Welfare & Veterinary Training Centre to be built, which will allow a more safe and sterile environment once equipped.
Working at the clinic was incredibly rewarding, as I was able to contribute to the well-being of the animals and support the local community. The hard work and passion of the staff and volunteers, who dedicate their time to care for the animals to ensure the shelter can run effectively was very inspiring.
Mbwa Wa Africa show great commitment in rescuing and rehabilitating dogs in need, which not only improves the life of the dogs, but also individuals within the local community by offering adoption opportunities and education on neutering and vaccinations.
I felt very honoured to participate in making a difference at the rescue. Contributing to the well-being of the dogs and seeing the positive impact of our efforts was truly rewarding. It was an incredible experience that reminded me of the importance of animal welfare and community support.
Four Steps to Freedom is definitely a charity worth supporting as their work has and is continuing to make a huge difference to animal welfare and the local community.
Mbwa Wa Africa will forever have my support and I would be privileged to return in the future!
