I have been a veterinary surgeon volunteering for the last number of years with World Veterinary Services and Mbwa Wa Africa. I have watched as the Gongo Centre has evolved from a concept to what is now a world class veterinary hospital and teaching facility.
The great leap forward was in the past year with the completion of the Veterinary Centre of Excellence, a 500m2 well-equipped facility which will be life changing not only for the pets in the area but also for the community and allow for better care, increased levels of neutering and other surgeries including orthopaedics, training of veterinary surgeons and more successful campaigns.
The team of veterinary staff who work in the centre are excellent and as well as showing both compassion and empathy to their charges also ensure at all times the highest standards of animal welfare are maintained.
