Susan Mackay, Veterinary Surgeon, Scotland
I am a vet based in Perthshire but have been involved with veterinary volunteering in Tanzania through Four Steps to Freedom over the last 3 years.
Four Steps to Freedom is an incredible organisation which works directly with local communities to improve the health and welfare of animals and subsequently improve the health and well-being of the people in contact with these animals.
The small scale of Four Steps to Freedom is one of its biggest strengths. The very low administrative costs of running the charity means that almost every penny raised ends up in the communities where it is needed most. The charity is run by a small and trusted team of volunteers who work hard to ensure funds are spent doing the most good possible.
As a busy mum, wife, vet and farmer it is important to me that the time I dedicate to helping raise money and help on the ground in Tanzania is time well spent and I am confident that this is the case with Four Steps to Freedom.
